Wedding Photo Tips. A word of caution: Be careful when trying to cut costs on photography. It's one of the two places where it's easiest to cut (photos and wedding reception DJ), and yet where wedding couples are the most unhappy when they do.
At the very least I recommend using a professional wedding photographer for at least the wedding ceremony pictures. These pictures represent lasting memories you'll want to share with family and friends for years to come. Some brides have been extremely disappointed when a professional wasn't used. Don't forget, when the day is over, it's too late to do anything about it.
The easiest way to cut costs (all around, really) for a photographer is to opt for a less popular time. This one wedding tip will save you tons, not just for the wedding photographer, but at the reception a wedding DJ is less expensive, the wedding reception venue, caterers, etc. Friday night and Sunday are great times to ask for a discount. Sometimes you can even get an early Saturday morning discount. I saved hundreds on the venue alone by using this tip for my wedding.
Don't order the fancy leather upgrade album. Either take the standard album or see if you can order the package without an album and get a discount. You may get an album as a wedding gift.
Ask if you can get the photos on disc. You can then easily upload your photos on a website for family and friends to print their own favorites. Also using a photo book site (like blurb.com) you can put together a photo book that anyone can order.
This is supposing that you have some know how and time to mess with the photos in photoshop. A wedding photographer does not only take the photos, but also has the experience of touching up shots, cropping where needed and layout skills that add another dimension to your wedding album.
Place throwaway cameras on each table at your wedding reception. Have the wedding DJ instruct your guests to take pictures during the wedding reception. This is not only entertaining, but you'll also get a lot of great candid shots. Remember to
