A couple of money saving wedding tips concerning flowers.
- Use flowers in season. If you avoid exotic, expensive flowers, especially ones that may have to be imported or flowers not in season, you'll save some cash.
- Decorate with greenery. Use greenery such as trees and garlands of ivy to fill large areas. It can give a dramatic impact for a lot less money. You can even rent small trees.
- Have a garden wedding. Consider having the wedding ceremony or the wedding reception in a beautiful garden, surrounded by natural (and free) flowers.
- Don't plan your wedding near a holiday, (unless...) Flowers traditionally are more expensive and scarce at this time, especially Valentine's Day and Mother's Day. However, planning it around Christmas might actually save you some money since many wedding reception locations will be decorated for the holiday season. Even many wedding ceremony locations, such as churches, may be suitably decorated!
- Limit your Attendants. Limit the number of attendants you have in your wedding party. Obviously the fewer the attendants, the fewer the number of wedding bouquets you'll need to buy. And, even though it's a smaller expense, that usually means less wedding accents for the Grooms men, too. (By the way having less attendants is probably the biggest money saver in general - less cash for the wedding rehearsal dinner, less attendant gifts to buy, smaller limos, etc - everything gets less expensive. This is where to cut back first.)
- Use Balloons. Balloons are an inexpensive way of adding color to a wedding reception site; they are especially effective for a larger room with high ceilings.
- Re-use the arrangements and bouquets. Use the same floral arrangements for both the wedding ceremony and the wedding reception. This is easy if both are in the same location and take just a little planning if they are not. Floral table arrangements can be used to line the wedding aisle, or can be grouped together and place on either side of the altar. Wedding bouquets can also be used to decorate the wedding cake and wedding guest book table.
