It seems funny and is exaggerated here in this video from the BBC show Man Stroke Woman (See below for wedding cake), but it is not that far from the truth. Now there are some things that do cost more, for instance arranging the flowers at your wedding reception site or your wedding ceremony site.

There are some great wedding flower vendors that do a fantastic job, without charging you an extra arm and a leg because it is a wedding. Remember you are in charge of your wedding.

As a DJ, I'm often asked why I don't charge more for weddings (as compared to other types of events), knowing that there is extra work and effort for a wedding and my answer is always that weddings are still my favorite event.

There are also ways to minimize the costs associated with a wedding. For flowers, you can reuse flowers from your wedding ceremony at your wedding reception. As a wedding DJ, we also try to do much of the pre-planning online, to save time and gas, etc. This helps us keep the cost down, so you don't have to pay extra.
